Professional education and training
We place great importance on education and offer a diverse curriculum to meet the needs and interests of rehabilitation professionals - therapists, nurses, physicians, neuropsychologists, case managers and others. Courses are led by our education team, clinicians or physicians, depending on the topic, and are tailored to the educational needs of employees. In addition, some of these courses are open to a variety of external rehabilitation and health care professionals nationwide.
The following is a list of clinical education opportunities, which continue to evolve and expand over time.
Independent continuing education courses
We offer online courses on demand so that staff can learn as their busy schedules allow. Topics for these education courses include: stroke, brain injury and spinal cord injury.
Virtual education courses
Throughout the year, we offer several live, virtual courses developed to further the professional skills of clinicians within an inpatient rehabilitation setting. Topics for these live courses currently include: stroke, brain and spinal cord injury.
Annual courses
Courses offered at least once a year include:
- Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) review course
- Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) board review course
Grand rounds
We also offer grand rounds for Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit led by physicians every two to three months. Grand rounds address the variety of medical conditions physicians manage within an inpatient rehabilitation hospital. Grand rounds are open to members of the medical staff of Select Medical's specialty hospitals as well as other rehabilitation and health care colleagues nationwide.
